Demolition and the haul-off after it

We tear out pools, decks, sheds, fences and the insides of kitchens and bathrooms, then load the debris and take it away with us.

What do we tear out?

  • Bathrooms and kitchens
  • Drywall and other interior demolition
  • Decks, fences and sheds
  • Pools
  • Tile

Whole buildings aren’t on that list. If you’ve got a house or a barn to take down, ask us anyway and we’ll tell you plainly whether it’s a job for us. For a quote on anything above, call or text (931) 675-2475 with what’s coming down and roughly how big it is. It’s free.

A pool, a deck and a fireplace

One of this year’s jobs was a complete pool and deck demolition, followed by full debris removal and cleanup. The yard was left clear and safe, ready for whatever the owner builds next. Another took down a brick fireplace after dark. Interior work leaves its own kind of mess, like the drywall pile from one of this year’s indoor jobs.

Can we work around your business hours?

We have. On June 26 we started at 5:00 AM and were gone before 11:00 AM, because that’s the window the customer needed. A commercial trellis came down on schedule without disrupting the business. On September 30 we helped take down a stage. Tell us when the site is free and we’ll plan the job around it.

June 26: on site at 5:00 AM, the commercial trellis down and gone before 11:00.

Decks, sheds and fences

All three are on our list, in whatever state they’ve reached: a deck gone soft, a shed with a roof caving in, a fence line that leans. They come apart board by board or panel by panel, and the pieces go straight onto the trailer. If you’re putting something new in the same spot, our assembly work covers metal sheds, carports, pergolas and vinyl fencing.

Permits vary by city. In Nashville, Metro Codes pages seen in a search excerpt say tearing out an attached deck without replacing it needs no permit, while a shed 10x10 or larger does. Confirm with Codes before you count on that.

Does Tennessee require notice before a demolition?

For buildings, often yes. A 2019 letter from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), which we’ve only seen quoted in an excerpt, says the state asbestos rule, Chapter 1200-03-11, calls for notice 10 working days before a building is demolished, even with no asbestos found. Davidson County runs its own air agency. The EPA treats an isolated small residential building as outside the federal asbestos rule. Rules change, so confirm with TDEC’s asbestos program before you set a date.

Cities add their own paperwork. Shelbyville’s Building and Codes office lists demolition as needing a permit; the Shelbyville page has its address and phone.

Where does the debris go?

Onto our trailer. A lot of curbside services won’t touch demolition debris: Columbia’s bulk pickup turns away rocks, dirt, stumps, wallboard and brick, and Metro Nashville’s convenience centers refuse concrete, brick and shingles. If the room has to be emptied before the tear-out, that’s junk removal on the same visit. Once the new work is in, we also do post-construction cleaning.

Demolition: what people ask

Do you haul away the debris after demolition?

Yes. The debris goes on our trailer as part of the job, from the brick of a fireplace we took down after dark this year to the drywall from an interior tear-out. You’re not left with a pile in the driveway or a dumpster rental to arrange afterward.

How long does a demolition job take?

It depends on the size of what’s coming down. A commercial trellis we removed on June 26 took us under six hours, starting at 5:00 AM and finishing before 11:00. A pool with its deck takes longer than a single shed. Ask for a time estimate with your free quote at (931) 675-2475.

Can you tear out an old pool and deck?

Yes. Pools and decks are both on our demolition list, and this year we did a complete pool and deck tear-out with the debris hauled off afterward. Tell us whether the pool is above-ground or in-ground, what the deck is built of, and how wide the gate to the backyard is.

Do you do kitchen and bathroom demolition for a remodel?

Yes. Kitchens, bathrooms, drywall, tile and other interior tear-outs are on our list, and we haul the debris away. Tell us what stays: cabinets you’re reusing, a tub that isn’t going anywhere, the flooring in the next room. When the remodel is finished, we also do post-construction cleaning.

Do you demolish whole houses or barns?

Not as a listed service. Our demolition list covers bathrooms, kitchens, interiors, decks, fences, sheds, pools and tile. If you have a house, barn or garage to take down, call (931) 675-2475 and describe it, and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s ours. Tennessee’s asbestos rule may also require notice beforehand.

Do you take down old sheds and fences?

Yes. Decks, fences and sheds are on our demolition list, and the pieces leave with us. If you’re putting up a replacement, our assembly work covers metal sheds, carports, pergolas and vinyl fencing, so the old one can come down and the new one go up on a single booking.
