What changed at the Pinewood Rd landfill?
The landfill at 5750 Pinewood Rd (615-790-0742, weekdays 7:00 to 4:00) no longer takes anything free. Since May 4, 2026, loads are weighed and charged. Special waste goes through the landfill’s convenience center, tires included, up to 6 per household a day.
The county convenience centers
These are still free, for Williamson County residents with a physical driver’s license. Household garbage, brush 3 feet or shorter, and construction and demolition waste are accepted, and the Grassland site at 1495 Sneed Rd also takes mattresses and electronics. Since July 6, 2026, the centers have kept weekday hours of 9 to 5 and weekend hours of 7 to 3.
Commercial loads aren’t allowed, and the county treats a rental as commercial. That shuts out the landlord turning over a unit and the business emptying an office, and it’s no help to anyone without the license or a truck. Those are our household and commercial junk removal and office and rental cleanouts.
Franklin’s curbside bulky pickup
The city’s sanitation pages, which we read in search excerpts, describe bulky items going out by 7 a.m. on Tuesdays and white goods on Thursdays, booked at 615-794-1516. Playsets, patio furniture and fencing count as specialty items at $125, and there’s no bulky pickup during a holiday week.
Brush goes out by 7 a.m. on trash day, 6 feet or shorter, about 2.22 cubic yards a week before extra charges kick in. Check with the city before you build the pile.
Taking down a deck or an old shed
Per an excerpt of the building department’s page, Franklin asks for a written description and plans for a residential demolition, and accessory buildings need permits; the department’s number is 615-794-7012. Once that’s settled, our deck, fence and shed tear-downs take it apart and get it off the property.
Carnton served as a field hospital after the Battle of Franklin, and about 1,500 Confederates lie in the cemetery beside it. Spring Hill, to the south, shares Franklin’s county on its Williamson side.
