Fayetteville and the Lincoln County square

Fayetteville’s city pickup stops at the can

The city collects garbage and yard waste weekly, in 32-gallon cans, and its sanitation page says construction debris isn’t collected. We didn’t find a bulky-item pickup or a demolition permit page anywhere on the city’s site. Recycling goes to the city center at 705 South Main.

So a sofa, a dead washer or the drywall from a basement redo needs some other way out. Our junk removal handles the household items, and interior demolition takes the drywall down in the first place if you haven’t started.

Lincoln County convenience centers

Lincoln County has three: Fayetteville, Taft and Flintville. Taft is closed on Wednesdays. The Fayetteville center (931-224-1081) opens Monday 6 to 6 and Tuesday through Saturday 7 to 5, and the Fayetteville Transfer Station is at 37 Burklin St.

Those details come from a search excerpt, because the county’s own page returned an error, and what the centers accept wasn’t in it at all. Call the center before you haul anything unusual.

Emptying a whole house

A full cleanout runs into both limits at once. The city’s cans hold 32 gallons, and the county’s list of what its centers take isn’t published anywhere we could read. When a Fayetteville house, apartment or storage unit has to be cleared for a sale or a new tenant, our cleanouts take it down to bare floors and haul it all away, so nobody spends a month of weekends running loads to Burklin St.

Moving to or from Fayetteville

We do local and long-distance moves out of Fayetteville, and single pieces, like a pool table or a safe, that need more than two people and a dolly. North of town, our Petersburg page covers a town that sits right on the Lincoln–Marshall line.

The square

The city is proud of Fayetteville Square, and says it may be the second county seat in the country laid out around a courthouse square because the law required it.
