Where does Mount Pleasant’s trash go?
Maury County has nine convenience centers, and they feed a transfer station on Lawson White Dr. From there, a search excerpt says, the county’s waste is hauled to Cedar Ridge Landfill, which happens to be in Lewisburg, our hometown. Confirm that with the county if it matters to you.
The centers are for county residents with proof of residency. Newspaper coverage describes them taking empty freezers and appliances, electronics, and paint up to 5 gallons a day. We couldn’t find a county page listing where the centers are; Columbia’s city FAQ mentions a PDF of locations.
Curbside questions
Those go to the city sanitation office at 931-379-7717, and bulky brush pickups are requested through a contact form on the city’s site. We didn’t see any size limits posted. Old tires are a paid drop-off on Lawson White Dr, at number 1233, starting at $5 each, and the county wants a call to 931-375-6402 before you show up.
Estates, cleanouts and the big single items
A drop-off that needs proof of residency, a truck and a free Saturday doesn’t help much with an estate. Our estate and property cleanouts empty the house, the shed and the yard and haul all of it off. For one big thing, a car or an off-road vehicle that has to go somewhere, there’s hauling.
When the house is sold rather than emptied, we move what the family keeps, an antique or a piano included, to wherever it’s going next.
Permits
Mount Pleasant doesn’t publish a demolition permit rule that we found. Call the city before tearing down a garage or outbuilding. If you’re nearer Columbia, that page covers the county seat’s bulk pickup and what it refuses.
