How much will Tullahoma’s junk collection take?

One or two items, each no bigger than a chair. The city’s Junk Collection page, which we saw in a search excerpt, says the service is free and leaves out clean-outs entirely. Public Works is at 931-454-1768; call to confirm before you put anything out.

A recliner fits that rule. Whether a mattress or a washer counts is a question for Public Works. A sectional, a bedroom suite or a garage’s worth of stuff plainly doesn’t, and that’s our furniture removal and garage and house cleanouts.

Brush and yard waste

Brush runs monthly, keyed to your garbage-day week, limbs 6 feet or shorter and nothing from a paid lawn service, per the same excerpt. The city recycling facility at 942 Maplewood Ave takes brush free. A storm’s worth of limbs longer than 6 feet needs cutting down or hauling off, and the hauling part is ours.

County sites on both sides

Coffee County’s convenience centers are for rural residents only. Franklin County’s refuse commercial waste and send construction debris, house and garage clean-outs, sheds and rental clean-outs to the Republic Transfer Station at 9577 Tullahoma Hwy in Estill Springs. Our Winchester page goes through the Franklin County rules in full.

Which county you’re in decides the tire rules as well. Coffee County takes 8 tires a year free per household, then $2 per passenger tire, on Thursdays at 2180 Murfreesboro Hwy (931-723-5139). Franklin County’s page doesn’t mention tires at all, so call its Joyce Lane office in Winchester before you load them.

Demolition permits

Tullahoma’s permit-required checklist names demolition. That’s a city PDF we saw in an excerpt; Building Codes is at 321 N Collins St, 931-455-2282. Get the permit, and the tear-out and haul-off is ours.
