Does Smyrna pick up bulk trash?
The town’s brush service page doesn’t mention it, and we didn’t find a separate bulky-item page. Public Works is at 615-459-9766 if you want to ask. What the town does spell out, in detail, is brush. Codes and Public Works are separate offices here, so a teardown question goes to Codes instead.
Smyrna’s brush rules
Brush pickup is free and residential only. Limbs have to be 6 feet or shorter and no more than 8 inches across, piles can’t be bigger than 10 by 10 by 5 feet, and leaves go in paper bags.
A storm pile bigger than that, or limbs too thick for the town truck, needs another route. Our yard debris and junk removal loads it up and takes it off.
Moves, furniture and assembly
Without a town bulk pickup, the old mattress and the broken dresser left from a move have nowhere to go at the curb. We move you, carry off what isn’t coming, and put the new beds, desks and shelving together through our furniture assembly.
Electronics and old paint
Neither goes in the cart or on the brush pile. Rutherford County’s Leanna Convenience Center, 4303 Sulphur Springs Rd in Murfreesboro, lists electronics, oil-based paint and fluorescent bulbs among what it takes. A dead TV, a box of old computers and the half-empty cans from a garage shelf all fit that list. Whatever’s left in the garage once those are out is ordinary junk for us.
County drop-offs and permits
Smyrna residents use Rutherford County’s recycling centers, which are closed Mondays and Thursdays and take only household garbage on Sundays. For a teardown, we didn’t find a published demolition permit rule; Smyrna Codes is at 615-355-5704. Next door, La Vergne has its own county center on Sand Hill Rd, with a one-pickup limit.

Smyrna questions, answered
Will the Town of Smyrna haul away an old couch?
Smyrna’s brush service page doesn’t mention bulky pickup, and we didn’t find a separate bulk-item page, so call Public Works at 615-459-9766 to ask. If the town can’t take the couch, our crew can carry it out and haul it off; we come up from Lewisburg, about 72 minutes away.
What size brush will Smyrna pick up?
Limbs 6 feet long or shorter and no more than 8 inches across, in piles no bigger than 10 by 10 by 5 feet. Smyrna’s brush service is free and residential only, and leaves go in paper bags. A bigger pile, or limbs too thick for the town, we can load and haul.
Who do I call about a demolition permit in Smyrna?
Smyrna Codes, at 615-355-5704. The town doesn’t publish a demolition permit rule online that we could find, so ask before you take down a shed, deck or garage. Once you know what’s required, our crew does the demolition and hauls away the debris.
Can you assemble furniture after a move in Smyrna?
Yes. Along with moving, we put together bedroom suites, entertainment centers, desks, storage racks and garage shelving in Smyrna homes, plus outdoor builds like carports, pergolas and metal sheds. Smyrna is about 72 minutes from Lewisburg, so assembly can ride along with a move or a haul-off.
